The Calhoun County Committee on Aging held their 11th Annual Garden Show last week at the Grantsville Senior Center.
Categories for participants ranged from jams and jellies to canned and fresh vegetables. Judging the event was Alley Snider from the West Virginia Extension Agency.
Canned Vegetable Category
1st place - Evelyn McCormick with "Aunt Nellie's beans from Ohio"
2nd place - Hobart Richards with tomato juice
3rd place - Evelyn McCormick with Italian Roma II beans
Jams and Jellies Category
1st place - Evelyn McCormick with blackberry jelly
2nd place - Blanche Kendall with golden cherry
3rd place - Alta Mae Richards with blackberry jelly
Fresh Vegetables Category
1st place - Hobart Richards with "Bob's" heritage tomato
2nd place - Jeanie Smith with green beans
3rd place - Jeanie Smith with beets
Vegetable Platter Category
1st place - Jim and Evelyn McCormick
Honorable Mention for Fresh Vegetables were Fumiko Welch and
Jeanie Smith.
Best of Show winner was Alta Mae Richards with blackberries
