Glenville, WV - A pair of Gilmer County High School graduates have signed their Letters of Intent to play baseball for Glenville State College.
Ian Morris and Danny Gilbert will be members of the newly reinstated Pioneer baseball team which will begin NCAA Division II competition in the spring of 2012.
Morris was a 2011 West Virginia All-State pitcher for the Gilmer County Titans.
"Ian is an outstanding young man and had a fantastic senior year for us. Every time he was on the mound we had a great chance to win," said Titan baseball coach Joey Frashure. Morris plans on majoring in business administration at GSC. He is the son of Doug and Kim Morris of Glenville.
Gilbert was also given 2011 West Virginia All-State honors as an outfielder." Danny only played one season for Gilmer County having transferred in from Maryland, but it was a very good year for him. We are all excited that we will get to watch him and Ian play their college ball for the Pioneers," said Frashure.
Gilbert will be majoring in natural resource management. He is the son of Kathy and Tom Gilbert of Glenville. His father is the GSC Head Baseball Coach.
"We are thrilled to have these two young student athletes decide to play for the Pioneers. Ian will be a very versatile utility player and pitcher for us. Danny has tremendous speed and can be a real run producer. It is great to have these two local players on the GSC roster. We look forward to having them in the program for the next four years," said Pioneer Coach Tom Gilbert.
