Eucle Knotts, one of Calhoun's best known characters, passed at age 102 in 2011.
A Charleston newspaper called him the "Catbird of Calhoun County," joking, story telling and dancing the "West Virginia Shuffle" right up to the end.
Knotts described himself as a rabid Democrat, and was the county's Democrat of the Year in 2008. He was inducted into the West Virginia Voters Hall of Fame.
After retiring from Goodyear Tire and Rubber in Akron in 1972, he returned to his Calhoun roots, in recent years living at his family homestead he named "Crowhill."
His life and times recorded by the Hur Herald.
