ROANE COUNTY MAN TO SERVE JAIL TIME - Negligent Homicide Charge

(05/25/2002)
A 19-year-old Roane County driver will spend two years in jail after pleading guilty to negligent homicide, following a fatality on Clover Ridge, State Route 36 on March 30.

Joseph Foraker of Reedy also pled guilty to DUI with death, DUI with injury, driving while license was revoked DUI-2nd and driving left of center.

A 3rd offense DUI, which was a felony charge, was dismissed because a State Police officer did not appear, being on flood duty in southern West Virginia, according to the Times Record/Roane County Reporter.

Foraker, who had two previous DUI convictions in Ohio, had 40-year-old Mona Walker of Newton as a passenger, when she was killed.

Three fatalities occurred in Roane and Calhoun within two weeks in March.

Calhoun State Police have yet to file charges against a Braxton County driver in the Pauline Osterholdt fatality on March 17, according to court records.
