Temperatures hit the very high 90s Thursday in the county.
An Excessive Heat Warning remains in effect from noon to 8 PM EDT
Friday with heat index values of 105.
Heat illness will be possible for people spending an
extended amount of time outdoors or engaging in strenuous
outdoor activities.
This would be especially true for the
elderly.
Pets are also vulnerable to heat related stress and
should be checked on to make sure plenty of water and shade
are available to them.
An excessive heat warning means that a prolonged period of
dangerously hot temperatures will occur.
The combination of hot
temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a dangerous
situation in which heat illnesses are likely.
Drink plenty of
fluids and stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun,
and check in on relatives and neighbors.
Reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke.
Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when
possible and drink plenty of water.
