West Virginia is moving on the REAL ID licensing system.
The Division of Motor Vehicles says the new license improves security and allows motorists to review information that's displayed before their licenses are issued.
DMV Commissioner Joe Miller said that the new system will become operational at all 23 regional offices in the state by July 28.
He says security features include micro-printing that can't be seen by the naked eye on each license or identification card.
"DMV is focusing on enhancing the security of our driver's licensing and identification card system to be certain every record matches. We want to make sure that you are who you say you are, with the focus being on safety and security for all citizens," Miller said.
The system also will be in full compliance with the federal REAL ID Act.
