LIBRARY WILL GET RAPID ACCESS COMPUTER - West Virginia Library Commission Grant

(05/24/2002)
Calhoun's public library will get at least one new "rapid access" computer from the WV Library Commission, according to librarian Glada Stump.

The Appalachian Regional Commission, through a $50,000 grant, will help purchase 63 computers for 27 rural counties, she said.

The computers will be equipped with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Power Point and internet-supported services, which will be directed toward rapid access. The grant will also provide hands-on training for library staff.

The computer purchase is part of a join grant for $148,000 funded by the state and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
