Dean and Janet White wanted to get out of Ohio and back to the hills.
"I couldn't take
another day at Ford Motor," Dean said. The White's, natives of Braxton
County, came
to Calhoun looking for a place to live and work and settled at Nicut
thirty-five years
ago.
They bought the Willie Bourne house with its post office and store
just across the
road. "We have never regretted living here," said Janet White. "We
have really
appreciated it since we have grown older."

White said the four bedroom house was built by D. O. Chenoweth in 1915
from lumber
milled on the site. It is built from really "good stuff," including
some of the widest
boards you'll ever see in a house.
The White's closed the store in 1991 and the Nicut post office in
1993, after which
Janet White operated the Chloe post office until her retirement.
