The West Virginia State Police are getting ready to work with federal and local law enforcement agencies during marijuana eradication season.
The groups will "identify and deter criminal drug activity," according to a news release.
Col. Jay Smithers is asking residents to report sightings of marijuana plants to their nearest state police detachment.
"Public assistance is absolutely necessary in order for the West Virginia State Police to effectively combat the drug trade within our state. The growth and subsequent use of marijuana has many negative affects on the hard working citizens of our state," Smithers said.
"With your help, we can deter the criminal element and hopefully lessen their negative impact upon our society," he said.
Last year, a large number of pot plants were confiscated in Calhoun, and several people were arrested.
