Dorsey C. Starcher, 74, of St. Albans, passed away May 31, 2011, at his home.
He was born July 27, 1936, in Reedy, a son of the late Lockard and Alta Sampson Starcher. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Garnett Mae Phillips Starcher.
Dorsey was a 1954 graduate of Calhoun County High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1958. He retired in 1985 from DuPont-Washington Works plant. He was a member of the American Legion and the V.F.W. Dorsey was also a member of Maranatha Fellowship where he was known as the "Scripture Candyman".
He is survived by his wife of seven years, Louise Sampson Starcher, daughters, Yvonne Smith and her husband Jeff, of Washington, Michelle Garst and her husband Jeff, of Cross Plains, Tenn., sons, David C. Starcher and his wife, Beth, of Belleville, Joe Sampson and his wife Debbie, of St. Albans, sister, Emma Thorn and her husband Bill, of Parkersburg, 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren.
Celebration of Dorsey's life was at Maranatha Fellowship Church, St. Albans with Pastors Terry Hogue and Chris Pugh officiating. Burial in the Gibson Cemetry, Calhoun County.
