Billie Jean Kirk Gandee Kerns, 59, of Spencer, West Virginia, died Sunday, May 22, 2011, in the CAMC - General Hospital, Charleston.
She was born December 22, 1951, at Loudendale, a daughter of the late William Woodrow and Hanna Ellen Ballard Kirk. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard P. Kerns; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Harold Dean; a nephew, Charles Andy Byrd.
Billie was a retired CNA, who had worked in several nursing homes in Parkersburg and Spencer.
Survivors include a son, Robert Lee Gandee, Jr. of Cleveland OH; a stepson, Andrew Paul Kerns of Parkersburg WV; nephews, William of Carrolton GA, Donald of Springfield IL, Alan of Kennesaw GA, James and Joe both of Spencer; a niece, Darlene of Reedy WV; several great nieces and nephews in WV, NC, IL and GA; and great great nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Friday, May 27 at 11:00 a.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Justin S. Simmons officiating. Burial will be in the Decatur M.E. Church Cemetery, Little Hocking OH.
Friends may call Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
