BABYSITTER USES BB GUN ON BOY - A Lewis County man is facing child abuse charges after police say he shot a 9-year-old with a BB gun.

Lewis County Sheriff's Deputies, in a criminal complaint, say Kyre Richardson, 21, was babysitting the boy.

The boy told police Richardson shot him in the back and the neck with the C02 powered BB gun.

He was taken to the hospital.

Richardson is charged with child abuse resulting in injury.

HOMELESS MAN SHOT AND KILLED - Ronnie Lane Perry, 59, of Verner, Mingo County confessed to Mingo County deputies that he shot and killed a homeless man near his house.

Perry has been charged with first degree murder.

Police are saying the victim, Harvey Jack Riffe, was sleeping in a car when the first two shots were fired by Perry.

Authorities say that Perry suspected Riffe of stealing two weed eaters.

During a hearing in magistrate court, Perry said he deserved a medal for killing the man.

Police say he shot the wounded man again as he tried to get away from the car. His body was found about 100 feet away along the highway.

Perry is held without bond.

SHOCKING LOGAN MURDER - A murder in Logan County has shocked the community of Chapmanville, a woman was killed in her home by her husband.

Deloris Godby was killed by her husband Jerry Godby, a former Logan County board of education member. He was also the news director at WLOG radio in Logan for about 20 years, worked for a newspaper and was active in other civic organizations.

Authorities say the two were allegedly involved in a fight and police say Godby pulled out a gun and shot his wife once in the chest. She died at a local hospital.

Godby then called 911 and waited for police to show up.

Police said they had been called to the residence at least once before for domestic violence.

Godby has been charged with first degree murder.

CHESAPEAKE MURDER - Authorities have arrested and charged a Chesapeake man with murder for stabbing and killing 30-year-old Billy Proctor early Wednesday morning.

Joshua Long has confessed to the murder.

Police said Procter was picking up a woman friend from Chesapeake, indicating the woman and Long were apparently involved in a past romantic relationship.

Police said Long stabbed Proctor in the neck and shoulder area with a "KA-BAR" knife. He died at Charleston General Hospital.
