Ruth Annabel Hull Murin, 91, of Vienna, formerly of Glenville, W.Va., passed away May 14, 2011, at her home after an extended illness.
She once lived in Grantsville, where her husband Nicholas Murin taught at Calhoun County High School.
She was born July 8, 1919, at Glenville, the eldest daughter of Emmet Hull and Willa Waggoner Hull.
She was a retired first grade teacher in the Gilmer County School system. Ruth was a wonderful, loving mother and friend. A member of the Greatest Generation, she was an educator who never stopped educating herself.
She loved nature, history and being with her family and friends. Previously, she had been a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Glenville, First United Methodist Church in Parkersburg, and was a current member of Wayside United Methodist Church in Vienna. Everyone who knew her, loved her. To her children, she was a hero and a great inspiration.
She is survived by her son, William Nicholas (Carol) Murin of San Mateo, Calif.; her daughters, Julia Ruth Lee of Charleston, W.Va., Marilyn (Dave) Barnes of Vienna and Mary Helen Murin of Las Cruces, N.M.; four grandchildren, Amy Hamilton of Arlington, Va., John Patrick Baldwin of Santa Fe, N.M., Nathan Barnes (Julie) of Detroit, Mich., and Adam Barnes of Lexington, Ky.; one sister, Mary Kemper Hull (Tony) Gum of Buckhannon, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews, whom she dearly loved.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas Murin; and a sister, Carolyn Hull Arnold.
A memorial service to celebrate Ruth's life will be held on her birthday, July 8, 2011. Further arrangements are pending.
