Carlton "Buck" Weaver, a former Grantsville resident who says he is a "West By-God West Virginian," will be celebrating his 90th birthday in Charleston SC on May 27.
Weaver, a man for all seasons, left Grantsville to illustriously serve in World War II, and went on to earn a college degree in engineering and became a long-time executive with Ashland Oil.
He has treasured his upbringing in Grantsville, sharing many of his memories.
For many years he was a collector of valuable old maps, which he has donated to Marshall University.
Carlton and his daughter Mason Weaver Scott, who was once a TV newscaster for WSAZ-TV, will be celebrating his birthday.
