Willard L. "Hep" Wright Sr. age 83 of Kanawha Drive Community, Glenville, West Virginia, departed this life at 1:00 a.m. Sunday May 8, 2011 at his home following a short illness.
He was born May 21, 1927 in Tanner WV, a son of the late William Walter and Sada Bee Wright.
Mr. Wright was an alumni of Tanner High School, and a Veteran of World War II where he served in the U.S. Navy. He worked primarily in the auto parts industry, for NAPA and also spent time working pipeline, railroad, American Viscose, and at the Ludwick Glass Factory in Glenville.
He was a member of the American Legion, WV Farm Bureau, VFW, and NRA. Hep enjoyed hunting, fishing, attending auctions, and collecting various things. He was especially interested in bowling where he was a member of the Sunday night mixed league and Thursday night men's league in Flatwoods.
On March 14, 1953 he was united in marriage to Betty Greenlief who survives at their Kanawha Dr. home.
Surviving are 1 son, Willard L. Wright Jr. and wife Michele of Glenville; 4 grandchildren, Joseph Wright of Morgantown WV, Andrea Wright Loftis and husband Daniel of Stouts Mill WV, Trevor Wright and Sada Wright both of Glenville; 1 great grandchild, Emily Grace Loftis of Stouts Mill; 3 sisters, Wilda Woodward of Alexandria VA, Rachel Curry and Virginia Lydick both of Glenville.
In addition to his parents Willard was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 2 sisters, Harold, Dennis, Bill and Harvey Wright, Ernestine Anderson and Dessie Giboney.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday May 12 at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc. Glenville, with Rev. Kenny Fisher officiating. Burial will follow in the Meadow Lane Cemetery at Kanawha Dr. Community. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.
