APRIL WAS GOOD FOR THE DUCKS - Tater Plantin' On Hold

(05/07/2011)
The National Weather Service is saying April was one of the wettest months on record.

It appears Calhoun and parts of the Ohio Valley had eight or more inches of rain.

Huntington had nearly 10 inches. Parkersburg just over 8 inches and Clarksburg had nearly 9 inches.

The NWS says West Virginia generally receives about three to four inches of rain in April.

Last April 2010 was dry with an average of only 1.5 inches.

While Calhoun farmers are complaining about not having enough dry days to plant potatoes, the good news is that the rain has spaced itself with no major flooding.
