SCHOOL BOARD EXPELS TWO MORE STUDENTS

(05/06/2011)
Calhoun Schools expelled two more students during a special school board meeting.

The expulsion terms for both students appeared to be the same.

The board approved Superintendent Roger Propsts' recommendation that the students be expelled from Calhoun County Schools until the end of the 2nd Semester of the 2011 school year.

The students are not allowed on school property during this time for any reason with the exception of the Alternative Learning Center at Calhoun-Gilmer Career Center.

"In addition, the students must enroll in the Alternative Learning Center at Calhoun Middle-High School at the beginning of the 2012 school year and continue in that setting as long as school administration deems necessary."

"That program will provide family counseling during the summer that the parents must attend with the child. A decision allowing the students to attend the Alternative Learning Center will be made prior to school beginning."

Calhoun Schools do not make public general reasons for expulsion, like drugs, alcohol or behavior problems, because of student confidentiality.
