Calhoun High School senior Joshua David Summers has received the 2011 DEKALB Agricultural Accomplishment Award.
Summers, the son of David and Janet Summers of Orma, was recently presented the school's highest agricultural honor, sponsored by Monsanto Company.
Summers received the award for excellence in academics, leadership, and agricultural work experience. His significant experiences and accomplishments have included ag. mechanics, livestock judging, Chapter Sentinel, and Chapter President.
He showed and sold a calf in the 1st annual 4-H-FFA Livestock Auction.
Over 64 years, more than 166,000 high school seniors from across the country have received the award, which has become a symbol for excellence and the school's highest agricultural honor.
As the winner of the 2011 award, Summers' name will be recorded on a permanent plaque displayed at Calhoun High School.
