CUTS WIFE'S THROAT - A South Charleston man has been charged after he allegedly cut his wife's throat with a hunting knife.
Kanawha County sheriff's deputies say Elizabeth Harless,
told them that she and her husband had been arguing, and when she tried to go to bed, he grabbed her and cut her throat with a hunting style knife.
It was a three-to-four-inch laceration, according to the sheriff's department.
She freed herself and called a friend to take her to the hospital.
Police arrested Scott Lester Harless, 41, and charged him with felony malicious wounding, Monday. He is being held in the South Central Regional jail without bail.
LEWIS CO. WOMAN SHOT BY HUSBAND -
A Lewis County woman is recovering after her husband allegedly shot her.
Lewis deputies arrested 26-year-old Samuel Joseph Smith on malicious wounding and wanton endangerment charges.
Police say they received a call that a woman was in the hospital suffering a gunshot wound to the chest.
Deputies went to Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital around 3 a.m. Saturday, discovering 26-year-old Amie Nicole Smith had a gun shot wound to the right side of her chest.
She was shot with a semi-automatic handgun.
Ms. Smith was taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
Smith is in the Central Regional Jail on a $50,000 bond.
