UPDATE: WV KNIFE AND GUN CLUB - Parkersburg Physician Arrested For Wife's Shooting

Wood county authorities have arrested Dr. John Ralsten, 74, a well-known retired Wood County physician, for allegedly shooting and killing his wife, Carol Ralsten, 70.

The shooting happened at the Ralsten residence late afternoon Friday.

The doctor apparently barricaded himself in his home, but Vienna's police chief played a pivotal role in negotiating with him. After six hours he was taken from the residence.

Police first received a call from 911 regarding an accidental shooting.

Reports said multi-police agencies responded to the incident, including a SWAT team. Officials blocked off the area around the house and a command post was set up.

The WV State Police Crime Lab unit was on the scene Friday night.

Authorities have not released a motive related to the shooting.

CHARLESTON MEN ROBBED - Three Charleston men were robbed on Charleston's West Side.

The Charleston Police Department said Dillon King, 18; Timothy Smith, 21 and Corey Cantley, 19, pulled into the driveway of a house a little past midnight Wednesday, when a gold-colored Chevrolet Cavalier pulled up behind their car.

Police said two men allegedly got out of the car, pulled guns and ordered the three men out of their car. They were robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash and other valuables.

MASON COUNTY INCIDENT - Mason County sheriff's deputies have made an arrest related to a shooting incident in Gallipolis Ferry on Thursday.

Deputies found that resident James Reynolds had been shot with a small caliber handgun, according to the Mason County Sheriff's Department.

Reynolds reported he had allegedly been shot by one of his neighbors, Gregory Richardson, 62.

Reynolds was treated and released from Holzer Medical Center.

Richardson was arrested at his home and charged with malicious wounding and burglary.

KANAWHA STABBING - Kanawha County sheriff's deputies have arrested Jennings Hancock, 54, in a stabbing incident near Belle on Thursday.

He was charged with malicious wounding after allegedly stabbing his neighbor, Richard Taylor with a pocketknife, said the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department.

Taylor received minor injuries.
