| Ollie Irene Conrad age 90, of Glenville, West Virginia, departed this life at 1:00 a.m., Saturday April 2, 2011 at her residence following an extended illness.
She was born June 10, 1920 in Gilmer County, a daughter of the late Scott and Myrtle Williams Helmick.
Mrs. Conrad was a devoted homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and Methodist by faith. She was an avid gardener both flowers and vegetables and she did all her own canning.
On May 13, 1955 she was united in marriage to Leonard Conrad, who survives at their Rt. 33 west home.
There are 8 children surviving, Linda Rowh (Mike) of Parkersburg WV, Vickie Dean (William) of Glenville, Kenneth Conrad (Belinda) of High Point NC, Kathy McCune (Pete) of Glenville, Ronald Conrad of Sand Fork WV, Doris Jean King of Glenville, Larry Joe Helmick (Sue) of Cleveland OH, and Freddie Helmick (Helen) of Glenville.
There are 15 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and her faithful Boxer dog Roscoe also surviving.
Irene was the last surviving member of her immediate family having been preceded in death in addition to her parents by 5 brothers, Howard, Cronan, Worthy, Clifford, and Ray Helmick; and one infant child.
Funeral Services will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc. Glenville WV at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday April 5 with Pastor Bryan Groves officiating. Burial will follow in the Hiney Cemetery, on Ellis Rd., Linn WV. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.
