Elah Starcher Whisman, 94 years, 6 months and 22 days, went home to be with the Lord April 1, 2011, following a brief illness at St. Joseph's Hospital, Parkersburg surrounded by family and friends.
She was born September 10, 1916 at Rocksdale WV, the 10th of 12 children born to the late Marshall and Margaret Blake Starcher. She resided at Hur in Calhoun County and was a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. She enjoyed piecing quilts, bingo and attending the Senior Citizens Center. Elah touched many lives with her unwaivering faith in God.
Surviving are two daughters, Joan Satterfield of Grantsville WV and Twila Roach of Parkersburg WV; 4 grandchildren, and one great grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Whisman, her parents and siblings.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, April 3 at the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church at Mt. Zion WV. Rev. Don Stilgenbauer and Rev. carroll McCauley will officiate. Interment will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Stump Funeral Home in Grantsville WV from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday.
