Creston residents woke up Sunday morning to find that about 2 inches of snow had fallen but most went away before the day was over.
Earlier in the week there had been high wind and, in many places golf ball sized hail.
Rev. Keith Belt brought the message at the Burning Springs M. E. church.
The Creston auction will be held Saturday, April 2, starting at 6 P. M. at the Creston Community Building.
Charles Russell was consulting with Dr. Larry Jones & Dr. Vosberg at the West Penn Burn Center and with Dr. Suresh at Minnie Hamilton. All have given him excellent reports and he is on the mend. He was able to attend church, visit his brother Euell Russell at Miletree and go shopping in Spencer. Those calling on Charlie included Brandon Ferrell as well as the usual ones.
Speaking of Euell Russell, he turned 75 on Monday and Gay Park turned 80 last Monday.
Charlotte Jordan moved back to Creston.
The gendarmes were calling in Creston the other day. It seems that some (or maybe one) gentlemen were (was) partaking of malted beverages and tempers (or a temper) flared.
Josemite Sam Dawson, C. Romeo Griffin, Jr., Pudge Hickman, Tim Shears & Paul Facemire are all attending foreman school at Cedar Lakes where they are being taught by Keith Lynch and Neil Reed. The Wirt Crew was doing berm work on W. Va. 5 & the Calhoun crew was hauling rock on the Richardsonville road.
With the earthquakes and tsunamis that have happened recently the real loons & nutcases have come up with 5 reasons why such happened. 1. The U.S. Govt. has a secret "Earthquake Gun". 2. America's failure to achieve 'climate consensus (the earth's response) 3. Jewish nuclear experiments. 4. Melting glaciers & 5. More heat equals more earthquakes. The study of plate tectonics, geology and world history likely are much too difficult for some. Earthquakes have been documented from Bible times onward. Also anyone who has traveled over the the eastern part of the state can easily see how the rocks have been tilted over in that section. While an 8' move of the Japanese shoreline was drastic, it is nothing when one considers that the distance from Creston to Washington, D. C. was once 400 miles longer. Locally, the Burning Springs anticline is obvious in many places and for all to see on W. Va. 50 at the Wood/Ritchie line.
With tax time rolling around some are less than thrilled to learn that GE (General Electric & NBC) the corporate sponsor of the present administration had $14.1 billion in profit and had to pay no federal taxes and actually had a $3.2 billion tax credit. Years ago GE used their first computer to determine how to lower their tax bill by showing losses in high tax areas while showing profits in low tax venues. They, along with Archer Daniels Midland (ADM, supermarket to the world as they say) are in tight with government programs that they promoted. Perhaps in 2012 changes can be made to put ordinary taxpayers on the same level and stop the nonsense. Those who get the big loopholes donate liberally to those who the enabling. Recently it was noted that a 'famous' Harlem congresscritter got $30 million for schools in his area which, of course, had noting to do with the billions in taxes that were spared a benevolent General Electric Company that he helped.
The WVU Extension will hold a meeting on Natural Gas April 26 at the Day's Inn in Flatwoods and on May 3 at the City Hall in Parkersburg. Both meetings are at 6:30 P. M.
Local residents have been following with amazement the "kinetic military action" involving the dictator of Libya who is a longtime friend of the Big Eared One's Chicago friends. Speaking of his
friends there, Bill Ayers said again that he wrote the book, "Dreams From My Father." Those who remember the Korean War may recall that, so as to not offend the communists, it was called "a police action". Those who got to 'participate' described it as a war, pure hell, etc.
Antero Resources, the Denver based outfit that has the farmouts on the Mother Hope (Dominion) leases recently acquired Bluestone Energy Partners from Sam Ross, Mike Hall & Greg Barton. Antero & their driller Bronco Drilling had one of the monster Marcellus ponds fail on them on Indian Run in Harrison County which resulted in a $15,000 fine.
While the Big Eared One's sidekicks, including Senor Salazar the Interior Secretary, are holding up and stopping oil drilling in and around America the Big Eared One said we welcomed Brazil's deep drilling and wanted the oil (that has already been promised to China). Now government experts have been dispatched to New Guinea to help with an offshore natural gas field there which is controlled by a firm called Inter Oil which is controlled by George Soros' hedge fund. Soros who is the Big Eared One's Sugar Daddy had planned on shipping LNG from New Guinea to America to make up for the "natural gas shortage". Now American and other firms have drilled the various shale formations all over the nation and America has a "glut" of gas. Will American natural gas be shut down so that Soros can sell his gas from Indonesia? These are questions that those in the U. S. Senate should ask in a way that there is a very definite answer.
The price of local Pennsylvania grade crude is now $100/bbl. Of course this price reflects, in part, the inflation that is affecting the country. For those who pay attention when they go grocery shopping the change is obvious but, under the new rules, food and energy do not factor into the inflation figures, just like those whose unemployment has run out do not count in the unemployment percentages. George Orwell would be proud.
