The Calhoun Board of Education has approved a three-year contract for Superintendent of Schools Roger Propst, beginning July, 2011.
The contract calls for a $6,000 increase to $88,000, with pay increases to $90,000 in 2012 and $92,000 in 2013.
Since Propst is a retired educator, the school system will not be required to contribute to his retirement program, thus saving the cost of those benefits.
The WV average salary for school superintendents is $103,877, according to the WV Department of Education.
Regional salaries for school superintendents: Gilmer $78,000;
Braxton $85,000; Clay $85,000; Roane $85,000; Wirt $83,000; Ritchie $95,000.
