The UWFP pavilion was built about ten years ago, and is used for visitors attending the bluegrass festival and other park events
With a tornado watch out for the county, there was no evidence of a tornado Wednesday evening, but a high wind ripped the roof from the visitors pavilion at the Upper West Fork Park.
Upper West Fork fireman Bill Jarvis said the roof was lifted from the support posts and landed about 75-100 yards away on a ball-field.
Fire Chief Randy Perkins said a large two-story house near the entrance to the park received heavy damaged to its roof from a fallen tree.
The Herald did not receive any other reports of damage from the wind.
Perkins said, "We will look at the roof problem tomorrow and see what can be done."
A large part of the roof appeared to still be intact.
