BILL INCREASING DMV FEES VETOED BY GOVERNOR - Measure Would Have Funded $40 Mil Secondary Rd. Improvements

(03/24/2011)
Those big Department of Motor Vehicle fee increases passed by the WV Legislature to raise $40 million to help repair the state's secondary roads has been vetoed by acting Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin.

Tomblin vetoed the bill Wednesday, saying it violated the U.S. Constitution's protection of interstate commerce, because it included language that would provide a fee limit only for in-state auto insurers.

Tomblin also said there was already an increase in State Road Fund revenues.
