| Walter F. Close, 94, of Harrisville, West Virginia, formerly of Big Springs, passed away March 18, 2011 in Harrisville.
He was born March 3, 1917 in Stewart, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Charles and Lena Stevens Close.
He was a US Army Veteran of WWII having served in the European Theatre with the 1223 Military Police Division. He was a retired electrician and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
Surviving are his sisters, Ann Silver of Pittsburgh PA, Margaret Merckle of Sardis OH, Virginia Mobleh of Freeport FL, and Betty Lou Close of Venice FL.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Close and a son, Walter Close, Jr.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 23 at Stump Funeral Home in Grantsville. Rev. Larry Jones will officiate. Interment will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Grantsville.
Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to services.
