The Lady Pioneers have had a scant moment to reflect upon
their WVIAC Tounament Championship victory Saturday defeating
#1 conference seed University of Charleston.
As of Sunday night, just after 9:30 p.m., Glenville State College's
Lady Pioneers officially became one of the 64-best teams in
the U.S. as playoff brackets were announced in this year's
national playoffs.
First round competition begins Friday, March 11, in what some
refer to the 'March madness" of nationwide men's and women's
college basketball playoffs.
The Glenville State College women will meet Johnson C. Smith
College Friday in Edinboro, PA, at the McComb Fieldhouse
Gym.
The entire affair takes just two weeks, culminating in the women's
NCAA Division II Championship game March 25 in St. Joseph,
Missouri.
Additional information about early round game times and
ticketing information was expected to be released Monday.
The initial three rounds of women's championship play
will be held March 11, 12, and 14. Game times have yet to be
announced.
WVIAC rivals University of Charleston and West Liberty
have also earned bracketing berths and the Lady Pioneers may
have the opportunity to permanently "re-defeat" them.
The Glenville team is nationally ranked in several areas.
Top rankings include: #1 Scoring Offense averaging 96.9
points per contest; #1 in three-point field goals per game,
averaging 11.4; and the Lady Pioneers are #3 in steals,
averaging 16 per outing.
