FRIDAY 9 PM - The bond to build a new Arnoldsburg School and air condition the gyms at Calhoun Middle-High School was approved by Calhoun voters by 67%.
Students at the Arnoldsburg School, built in 1951, have long suffered because the school is on the flood plain, often causing flooding inside the school, or when warnings happen, a large amount of work by teachers and staff in elevating fixtures inside the school.
The unofficial returns Friday night shows that 522 voted for the bond and 256 voted against, a total of 778 voters going to the polls.
Superintendent of Schools Roger Propst said, "I'm elated for the young people of our county."
"Once again the voters stepped up to the plate and showed support during tough times," he said.
