YOUTH DIES AFTER PELLET GUN SHOOTING - Larry Fields, 19, of Jackson County, shot with a pellet rifle early Sunday, has died.
State Police say Fields and Jared Devin Wade Anthony, 18, both of Ripley, were at a party in Evans at 2:45 a.m. Sunday when Anthony allegedly shot Fields in the head with a pellet rifle.
Fields was taken to CAMC General Hospital where he later died.
Police are saying it was unclear whether Anthony intended to hurt Fields, indicating alcohol and drugs could have been a factor in the shooting.
The body has been sent to the state medical examiner's office.
State Police are saying that criminal charges could be filed after a review of the medical examiner's report.
FAYETTE WOMAN DIES AFTER GUNSHOT - A Fayette County woman shot in the head Sunday evening has died. Police say Jamie Fae Withrow, 25, of Hico died Monday at CAMC General Hospital from injuries sustained in an accidental shooting.
Fayette deputies have arrested Euseph K. Shehab, 35, of Ansted, charging him with unlawful wounding and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
Shehab, who is Withrow's cousin, was arraigned Monday and his bond was set at $75,000.
"Since Ms. Withrow has now died as an apparent result of this shooting, I anticipate that new criminal charges will be filed against Mr. Shehab later this week," said Fayette County Sheriff Steve Kessler.
"We need to wait on the results of an autopsy so that we have an official medical finding that the apparent cause of death is due to the gunshot wound that she sustained in the incident," he said.
The shooting was first reported as a self-inflicted gunshot, but after investigating the crime scene and speaking with a witness, deputies determined the gunshot was the result of an accidental shooting, police said.
