Mary L. Conley, 94, of Spencer, West Virginia, died Monday, February 28, 2011 in Roane General Hospital, Spencer.
She was born January 16, 1917 at Stover, Roane County, a daughter of the late John W. and Mida L. Chapman Miller. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Ison K. Conley; two children, Kevin and Noreen Conley; two grandchildren; one great grandchild; five brothers; four sisters; two half brothers; and one half sister.
Mrs. Conley was a wife, mother and grandmother. She was also a cook at the former Morning Star School, Stover. She was the oldest member of the Cherry Valley Church, where she had served as clerk, secretary-treasurer and pianist. She had read through her Bible 29 times and through the New Testament 31 times. Her hobbies included crocheting, quilting, reading and horseback riding. Each of her children and many of her grandchildren have received crocheted items from her.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Larry Conley, Vonnel and Pauline Conley; three daughters and sons-in-law, Jean and David Epling, Orma and Tom Kiser, and Eileen Matics all of Spencer; 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Eloise Miller of Spencer.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Pastor Wayne McGlothlin and Rev. Larry Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, Zona.
