Glenville State College's Lady Pioneers ended 2010-11
regular season play with a resounding 112-77 win over
Ohio Valley University.
Winding up with a 19-8 (17-5 conference) record
the team remained undefeated at home this season.
Nine of GSC's players, led by Danielle Woodmore's 19,
scored in double-figures. Mishae Miles, a six-foot freshman
forward from Chicago, added another double-double in
points-rebounds to a very impressive freshman year.
Miranda Reed had eight assists; Danielle Woodmore
grabbed six steals.
OVU was steam-rolled the first half 65-34.
The game created quite a different image compared
to the team's initial season match-up when OVU
prevailed in a 114-110 in overtime.
Hailing from Van Nuys, California, Autumn Davis
(left) the team's 3-point ace, had Lady Pioneer
fans 'California Dreamin'. Kristen Golden (R) didn't
let an OVU height advantage stop her inside attack.
Seniors were honored during Saturday's game.
Those players include Miranda Reed, a guard from
Hedgesville, WV. She's the team expert at
steals and assists. Autumn Davis has made
fans remember "California Dreamin,' as she hails
from Van Nuys. Davis is the Lady Pioneer's 3-point
ace.
Kristen Golden, of Weston, turns in consistently
fierce post-position performances for her team. She's also
brought fans to their feet when she drops one in
from downtown. Kim Stephens, of Mineral Wells,
is a balanced offensive and defensive performer with
keen long-distance accuracy.
First-round WVIAC Tournament action begins Monday
night at campus sites conference-wide. GSC's Lady
Pioneers (#3) meet Alderson-Broaddus (#14) at 7:30 p.m.
at home.
