| Charles Walter Rutherford age 79 of Rutherford Lane, Glenville WV, departed this life to be with his Lord and Savior at 9:50 p.m., Saturday, February 5, 2011 in the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center, Clarksburg WV, following an extended battle with prostate cancer.
Born February 16, 1931 in Gilmer County he was a son of the late Ernest L. and Pauline May Moss Rutherford.
A retired heavy equipment operator for Fox Pipeline, he was a Navy Veteran discharged in 1960, a member of Operating Engineers Union Local 132, and a Christian who attended the Church of God of Prophecy.
On December 15, 1956 he was married to Norma Jean Willis Rutherford, who survives at their Rutherford Lane home.
In addition to his wife he is survived by 4 children, Marcia R. Drake of Elkins WV, Cynthia Greynolds Wilson and husband Pastor Randy of Glenville, Charles W. "Chuck" Rutherford and wife Crystal of Buckhannon WV, and Teresa Ullerly and husband Mark of Youngstown OH; 1 brother, Waitman Rutherford and wife Sonnie of Jane Lew WV; 1 sister, Mary Moore and companion Arden Cox of Glenville; 7 grandchildren, Brad Drake, Jenny Drake, Bobby Bush, Ashley Rutherford, Mitch Greynolds, Amanda Greynolds Zachos, and Cheynne Higgins; 7 great grandchildren, Autumn Drake, Norah Drake, Caleb Moyers, Logan Bush, Jackson Bush, Kobe Starnes, and Sophia Greynolds.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 1 brother, Ernest Lee Rutherford Jr.; 1 sister, Wava Jean Anderson; and one infant child.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc. Glenville WV, 1:00 p.m. Wednesday February 9 with Pastor Randy Wilson and Pastor Bryan Groves officiating. Burial will follow in the Moss Cemetery at Little Bull Run, where full military honors will be observed.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Mortuary.
