O. V. Stonestreet, 79, of Spencer, West Virginia, died Wednesday, February 2, 2011, at home.
He was born June 26, 1931, at Triplett, Braxton County, a son of the late Grover Butler and Iva Maude Hawkins Stonestreet.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.
Mr. Stonestreet was a retired independent oil and gas producer and cattleman. He was a graduate of WVIT, Montgomery, with a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering. He and his brothers owned and operated Stonestreet Lands Company in Spencer and also the Stonestreet Charolais Ranch, Triplett.
He was a USMC veteran of the Korean War. He cared deeply about his employees and their families, his community and he was very devoted to his family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially his grandchildren.
Surviving relatives include his wife of 56 years, Dee S. Stonestreet; daughters, Melody Stonestreet of Charleston, Beverly Harris and husband, Wayne, of Spencer; Terri Elmore and husband, Tim, also of Spencer; grandchildren, Winston "Chip" Harris of Arlington VA, Caroline Harris of Spencer, and Thomas Elmore of Spencer; sister, Eunice Stonestreet of Cleveland OH.
There will be no public services. A private graveside service with military honors accorded by the USMC will be held at Eventide Cemetery, Spencer, at a later date.
