A Braxton County man discovered frozen by a newspaper carrier, near his house early Sunday, died a short time later.
Police say frigid temperatures could have led to the death of John Morgan Cowger, 77, who was discovered along Little Otter Road.
Police and family are speculating that Cowger, who had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease about five years ago, wandered outside of his home.
Braxton sheriff's deputies say Cowger was revived at the scene, but died later at a nearby hospital.
Kay Simons told WCHS-TV she got a knock at the door at 5:00 a.m. on Sunday that her father was barely alive.
"When we got to the hospital they told us that he had been outside too long, and his heart was too weak, and he basically froze to death," said Simons.
Cowger was equipped with a GPS locater called Project Lifesaver.
Rose McCoy of Project Lifesaver said the locater sends out a signal every second, around the clock, but the team has to be called and told the person is missing so a search team is activated.
McCoy said,"Project Lifesaver has a 100 percent success rate," if notification is made.
