HOME INVASION IN ST. ALBANS - St. Albans police say several men, carrying guns and pepper spray, allegedly broke into a home early Sunday morning and demanded pills and money.
911 received a call at 3:21 a.m. that two or three men, wearing ski masks and pretending to be police officers, broke into a home, according to a press release.
Witnesses said the men knocked on the front door of the home and then pepper sprayed the man who answered, and once inside, they ordered everyone to lie on the floor and demanded money and Oxycontin pills.
Some drugs were removed from the house.
One of the men fired a gun and officers recovered a bullet at the scene.
No one suffered injuries.
POLICE SHOOT MAN IN HUNTINGTON - Huntington Police shot and wounded a man early Saturday after he shot at them, according to a police report.
At 1:20 a.m. Saturday, officers went to to investigate reports of gunshots, but initially could not locate a problem.
Twenty-five minutes later, they received more reports of gunshots, and found in the area Mitchell L. Dunn, 51, on the porch of his home.
Police say Dunn pointed his weapon at the officers and fired at least one round, after which an officer shot back and wounded Dunn.
He was taken to the hospital, facing charges of wanton endangerment and attempted murder.
MONROE CO. MAN SHOOTS WIFE-STEPDAUGHTER - Two people are dead after being shot by a Monroe County man Friday.
Capt. Jan Cahill of the State Police said 70-year-old Gerald Allison is being held in Southern Regional Jail in connection with the slayings of his wife and stepdaughter in the driveway of their home near Greenville.
Allison reportedly fled the scene after the killings but later surrendered without incident.
Allison has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
