Oleta S. Minigh Beall, 97 - Sand Fork

Oleta S. Minigh Beall age 97 of Sand Fork, West Virginia, departed this life at 6:45 p.m., Saturday, January 15, 2011 at her residence following an extended illness.

She was born March 1, 1913 at Freemansburg, Lewis County WV, a daughter of the late Hezekiah and Zannah Marks Minigh.

Mrs. Beall was a retired glass worker in the cutting department of the former Glenville Glass Factory. She was a talented glass cutter and designed numerous pieces - one of her favorites was named "Linda" after her daughter.

Her first job was at the Gilmer County Courthouse where she took the hand written deeds and typed them for recording. She then became secretary for NYA (National Youth Association). She was also a homemaker, loved to paint giving new life to old furniture, write poetry and sing. She was an avid reader, loved the news both watching and analyzing and was a great do-it-yourselfer. She was a member of the First Baptist Church Glenville.

She was married to William Holbert Beall on September 12, 1939, who preceded her in death November 21, 2000.

Mrs. Beall is survived by one daughter, Linda Whaley and husband Rev. Thomas of Sand Fork; one daughter-in-law, Betty Salvino of Weston WV; one grandchild survives, James S. Adkins and wife Sue; great grandchildren, James Adkins, Jennifer Adkins, Joy Adkins, Matthew Adkins and Michelle Adkins; and several nieces and nephews.

Oleta was the last surviving member of her immediate family having been preceded by one son, James Salvino by a previous marriage; one grandson, Jerry Adkins; two brothers, Fred and Howard Minigh; and 2 sisters, Edna Minigh Springston and Vera Minigh Campbell.

Funeral services will be held at the Ellyson Mortuary, Inc., Glenville at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 20, 2011 with Pastor Bryan Groves officiating. Burial will follow in the Sand Fork Cemetery. Friends may call 4-8 p.m., Wednesday at the Mortuary.
