Dewey Tomblin Jr., 72 of Palestine West Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on December 30, 2010.
He was born July 20, 1938 in Harts WV the son of the late Ora and Dewey Tomblin Sr.
Dewey was an ordained minister, and retired from Ford Motor Company after 31 years of service.
He was a member of local UAW 1250 of Cleveland OH. He loved gardening, hunting, flowers, football, westerns, reading his Bible and spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed by all who loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Kernie Carter Tomblin;
son, Dewey R. Tomblin (Sandra) of Sheffield Lake OH; daughters, Nora Kelley (Elva) of Palestine, Regina Hallman (Leonard) of North Ridgeville OH, Tonya Morrison (Terry) of Palestine, Jody Darby of Elyria OH, Juanita Cope (Richard) of Palestine, and Inis Adams (Larry) of Greenup KY; 27 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren;
brothers, Clabe Tomblin of Harts WV, Elden Tomblin (Flo) of Big Creek WV, Dennis Tomblin (Julie) of Cleveland OH; sister, Sadie Dyer (Chester) of Cookville TN; and many dearly loved nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Andrew Tomblin, Joe Isaac Tomblin, and Roland Tomblin; sisters, Katie Tomblin, Blanch Tomblin and Lucinda Thompson; brothers-in-law, Isaac and John Carter and James Thompson; sisters-in-law, Vennie, Bernice and Tootsie Tomblin, Ineze Carter and Lucille Workman; mother and father-in-law, Boyd and Nora Carter; grandson Quinton Adams; and nephew, Bo Workman.
Services will be 8 p.m. Monday, January 3 at Matheny Whited Funeral Home of Elizabeth WV with the Rev. Delmas Stutler officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 2-4 and 6 p.m. till time of the service.
Visitation will also be Wednesday Jan. 5 at Freeman Funeral Home in Chapmanville WV From 6-9 p.m., where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 6 with the Rev Elbert Collins officiating. Interment to follow at The Carter Cemetery in Harts WV.
