A Calhoun man who escaped home confinement when he was being charged for arson has been arrested by Trooper J. E. Kincaid of the Grantsville Detachment of the State Police.
A grand jury had indicted 20-year-old Zachary Allan Wease of Five Forks for the first degree arson of a house last May belonging to the Norma Joy Freshour family.
Trooper Kincaid said police went to a White Pine residence to arrest him, reportedly after Wease notified authorities regarding his whereabouts and wanted to turn himself in.
He has initially been charged related to the revocation of his bond, related to an earlier offense, said Kincaid.
The grand jury also indicted Wease with one count of criminal escape, and one count of grand larceny and one count of conspiracy to commit grand larceny.
Wease jumped home confinement last June and ran into the woods from his Five Forks residence, reportedly after he learned he was being arrested for the arson of the Nobe Road residence.
Witnesses reportedly spotted Wease at or near the Freshour house the day of the fire.
Calhoun Home Confinement Supervisor Bob Groves said a warrant was obtained for Wease for removing his ankle bracelet and fleeing, describing it as "a serious felony."
Groves said Wease's fleeing was the first while he has been monitoring home confinement in the county for six years, a program which has involved several hundred clients.
Last May State Police had charged Wease and Amber Huffman with the grand larceny of four Alcoa wheels valued at about $2000.
A criminal complaint said the couple stole the wheels from Big Bend resident David Cain, after which they took them to a recycling center in Elizabeth, offering them for sale.
