recognized for his long-time public service

Retiring Calhoun County Clerk Richard Kirby received recognition yesterday for his public service to the county.

Acting Governor Earl Ray Tomblin presented Kirby with a certificate and the Calhoun Commission presented him with a plaque for his long-term service.

Kirby has been the county's clerk for 20 years, and earlier served as a county commissioner for four years, appointed to an unexpired term.

Previously he was the county's road supervisor for five years.

He has been a licensed surveyor for over 30 years.

Kirby said,"The people of the county have been really good to me, and I will always appreciate them."

"I plan to part-time farm, part-time survey, and be a part-time babysitter," he concluded.
