Wheeler G. Hall, 74, of Clover Community, Spencer, died Saturday, April 27,
2002, at his home.
He was born July 2, 1927, at Arnoldsburg, a son of the late Raleigh W. and Iva
Greathouse Hall. He was a retired teacher and principal in Roane and Kanawha
Counties with 33 years of service. He was a 1945 graduate of Calhoun County
High School and attended West Virginia Weslyan College. He received a B.A.
degree from Glenville State College in 1950 and an M.A. degree from Marshall
University in 1960. He was a life member of the National Congress of Parents
and Teachers, the National Education Association, and the West Virginia
Education Association.
He was a member of the Spencer Roane County Volunteer Fire Department and
a charter member of the Clover Roane County Volunteer Fire Department. He
helped start the Clover Public Service District in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
He later served as chairman of the Clover PSD from 1982 until the present.
He was a trustee and manager of the Clover Cemeteries Numbers 3 and 4 for
many years. He was a Methodist and a Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Ada H. Hall, whom he married August 25, 1951; one
brother, Edsel "Pancho" Hall of Spencer; several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted Monday, April 29, at 11 a.m. in the John H.
Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Daniel R. "Danny" Whited
officiating. Burial will be in the Clover Cemetery, Clover.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
