The Black Diamond Council, a Girl Scouts service center, announced Friday they will be selling Camp Sandy Bend near Elizabeth. They will also be selling Camp Mamie Flynn in Logan.
The council said research indicates that while members do want outdoor experiences, the vast majority of girls prefer to stay in cabins with electricity and flush toilets.
More than half of the Girl Scouts participating in a 2010 survey said they had not attended a Girl Scout camp.
The Black Diamond Council said the cost to maintain the camps in Logan and Elizabeth far outweighs the benefit of the use those camps get.
They hope to develop an urban camp in the Charleston area in the future, according to a press release.
