A public hearing has been scheduled for input regarding the location of a new
emergency services building, which could house Calhoun's 911 Center, the Calhoun
Emergency Medical Services and the Office of Emergency Services.
Grants funds could underwrite the construction of a building, replacing the current
building at Mount Zion, which structurally has problems and is unlikely to meet
standards for an emergency service center.
Suggestions to date for the location of the new center include:
1. Behind Calhoun Middle/High School near the new bus garage
2. Near the County Park barn/County Park property
3. County Park property at the mouth of Riffle Run along Route 16
4. Adjacent or near the Grantsville Volunteer Fire Department
This would not affect the current Calhoun EMS sub-station at Minnora.
The hearing will be part of the regular County Commission meeting on May 6 and will
commence at 5 p.m.
The Commission welcomes any suggestions or comments concerning the proposed
building, according to an announcement posted by Clerk Richard Kirby.
