SCHOOL BOARD SETS $3.5 MILLION BOND ELECTION - 20-Yr. Bond Would Fund Arnoldsburg School And Other Improvements

The Calhoun County Board of Education will conduct a special election to approve a bond issue of $3,560,000 for a term of 20 years.

Proceeds of the bond would be used for a new Arnoldsburg Elementary School (PK-4) at $2,767,358; Air conditioning for CM/HS gymnasiums, $732,642 with bond fees at $60,000.

The bond will not increase current tax levels, with a bond approved by county voters for additional facilities at Calhoun Middle-High School about to expire.

The board decided Monday to hold the bond election on March 4, 2011.

The actual sale of the bonds is contingent upon an award by the West Virginia School Building Authority of $5,656,162 to construct a new Arnoldsburg school and make the improvements.
