June (Yoak) Cunningham, 75, of Mentor on the Lake, Cleveland, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home October 6, 2010, with her family by her side.
She was born February 14, 1935, in Big Bend, W.Va., the daughter of John W. and Eva B. Yoak.
She was the Calhoun High School Homecoming Queen in 1953 (see left). She moved to Cleveland and had three children with her first husband, Andre Gleyzal.
She enjoyed gardening, games, bowling and ladies softball. She was also a devoted Cleveland Indians and Browns fan. She retired from Picker X-Ray after 28 years of service.
Surviving are three daughters, Denise (Dave) Peterson and Diane (Rick) Avriett of Land O'Lakes FL and Jackie (Tom) Derevjanik of Mentor on the Lake; three brothers, Clifford "Kip" Yoak of Parkersburg WV, Ralph Yoak of Aurora, CO and Herbert Yoak of Big Bend WV; three sisters, Garnett Chernesky of Northfield OH, Betty McVaney of Clarksburg WV and Beverly Robinson of Jonesboro GA.
Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Sarah Beth Peterson of Mililani HI, Stephen (Christia) Peterson of Gainesville FL, Amanda (Darren) O'Brien of Herndon VA, Trent, Allison and Kaitlyn Avriett of Land O'Lakes FL, and Amelia and Kelly Derevjanik of Mentor on the Lake.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her second husband, William Cunningham; and two brothers, Denver Ronald Yoak and Victor Yoak.
Following services in Ohio, a service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 16 at the Brooksville Baptist Church, Big Bend, with Rev. Dave Peterson, Rev. Rick Avriett and Tom Derevjanik officiating.
Interment will follow in the Yoak family cemetery on Norman Ridge.
