Eleven students from the Calhoun County FFA Chapter traveled to Morgantown in September to the regional FFA Convention. Eleven students competed in 3 different categories.
Students competing in Forestry were Michael Tucker, Darrien McKown and Douglas Parsons. They finished 17th out of 27 in the state. Tucker finished 15th, McKown placed 56th and Parsons placed 75th. The team had a total of 1076 points.
Livestock team members were, Joshua Summers, placing 53rd; Luke Moore placing 83rd; Cheyenne Oshe, placing 106th; and Jacob Jett placing 132nd. The Livestock team placed 28th out of 37, and had a total of 1092 points.
Poultry team members were, Zack Bawcum, Ricky Hall, Hannah Peck, and Emily Bain. The team placed 8th out of 17 in the state and had a total of 1776 points. Bawcum placed 20th, Hall placed 29th, Peck placed 41st, and Bain placed 56th.
As a result of the Poultry team placing in the top ten in the state four Calhoun students will go to the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis - Joshua Summers, Michael Tucker, Ricky Hall and Zack Bawcum.
The students would like to thank their chaperons, Nikki Bain and Mr. Donald Poage. They also extend their thanks to WVU for supporting and making the convention possible. |
