MASON MAN INDICATED IN SPENCER MURDER - Leach Charged With 1st Degree Murder, Sexual Assault

(10/09/2010)
A Roane County grand jury has indicated a Mason County man for the death of 44-year-old Kenneth Boggs, following what authorities say was an all-night beating in a Spencer apartment last January.

Greg D. Leach, 20, of Letart was indicted for 1st degree murder and 1st degree sexual assault.

Police say Boggs, in the presence of several witnesses, was "physically helpless" during the beatings, with Leach throwing water on Boggs' face to revive him.

Police have said Leach (pictured Left) stripped Boggs naked and sodomized him with a soft drink bottle.

Leach and a number of others were at Boggs' apartment to celebrate Leach's 20th birthday.

An autopsy performed by state medical examiner Dr. James Kaplan said Boggs suffered a broken neck, multiple contusions to the head, lacerations to the face, fractured ribs and bruising to the groin area.

Witnesses told authorities, according to the criminal complaint, that Boggs was knocked into an entertainment/TV stand, stripped naked by Leach.
