Lowell Davis Rogers, 72, of Newton, West Virginia, died Wednesday, September 29, 2010, in the CAMC-Memorial Hospital, Charleston.
A working man his whole life, he went from being employed at the State Hospital in Ohio to operating a dozer for Dale Brothers Oil Company, Spencer, to the love of his life, being a truck driver.
Known as "Slim", he traveled many miles on roads from coast to coast. He finally retired from Truckers Express, having earned many driving awards. To his family and many other people, he was truly "King of the Road". His daughter is proud to call him "Dad."
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Aubrey West of Wallback; granddaughter, Haley West of Oak Hill; grandson, Tyler West of Wallback; step granddaughters, Karen Finney of St. Albans and Renea Howell of Charleston; one step great granddaughter; brother, Lee Rogers of Orrville, Ohio; sister, Mary Lou Boggs also of Orrville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Greathouse Rogers; stepson, Robert L. Greathouse; parents, Howard C. and Ruby Neal Rogers.
A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, October 2 at 2:00 p.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Billy Meadows officiating. Burial will be in the Clover Cemetery, Clover.
Friends may call two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
