CHARGES REDUCED AGAINST TRIO WHO ESCAPED FROM SALEM

(09/27/2010)
Three teenagers who escaped from the Salem Industrial Home for Youth have made their first appearance in court after being returned to West Virginia.

The trio fled to Kansas.

Brandon Michael Carroll, Michael Lee Sharp and David Emory Greathouse escaped from the maximum security facility three weeks ago.

Greathouse is a resident of Roane County.

Felony escape charges were dropped against the three in magistrate court Friday.

They are now charged with misdemeanor escape.

Carroll and Sharp pled guilty to the charges and were ordered to no more than one year in the North Central Regional Jail.

David Greathouse did not have an attorney and the misdemeanor escape charge is still pending against him.

He will remain in North Central until a new hearing is set.
