H.W. "Bill" Pursley, 95, of Parkersburg, West Virginia, died Tuesday, September 14, 2010, in Eagle Pointe, Parkersburg.
He was born May 8, 1915, at Pasco, Roane County, a son of the late Emery Morey and Lillie Mae Bell Pursley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Wright Pursley, November 5, 1998.
Mr. Pursley was a retired construction worker. He was a member of the Woodbine Baptist Church, Manassas, Virginia, and a Navy veteran of World War II. Also, he was an avid fisherman.
Survivors include two sons, Stan Pursley of Parkersburg and Steve Pursley of Jackson, Georgia; a daughter, Susan Shappell of Fredericksburg, Virginia; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 18 at noon in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Ron Fisher officiating. Burial, with military rites, will be in the Clover Cemetery, Clover.
Friends may call Saturday two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
